Ryu
CHARACTER OVERVIEW:
A student of Shotokan school of karate, Ryu has developed into a true warrior. He has devoted his entire life to the perfection of his fighting skills and has forsaken everything else in his life. Ryu has no home, no friends and no family. Instead, he wanders the globe seeking to test his skills against other fighters. Probably the strongest all-around fighter, Ryu claimed the title of grand champion after his narrow defeat of Sagat. Cool and calculating, Ryu is very patient in combat. When Ryu observes weakness, he moves quickly to dispatch his opponents with the awesome power of his Dragon Punch. His fighting abilities were quite useful during the Shadaloo incident and after that, Ryu became a member of the Street Fighter special operations team managed by Escher.

THOUGHTS ON THE CHARACTER:
Ryu was always an interesting character for me. The fact that he's an honorable fighter is quite appealing to most Street Fighter fans. In the movie, he starts out as Ken's sidekick, and, like every character from the game in the film, he becomes the video game character. Ryu gets a chance to use his Two-in-one Fireball Combo and his Helicopter Combo. Byron Mann does a great job as Ryu. He definetly looks like the character and his acting abilities are quite nice, he can be funny and downright serious depending on the situation. Tong Lung has a great chemistry with the other members of the cast and he has some very nice moments in the cartoon. One of the more memorable characters of the American Street Fighter canon, Ryu is even more popular with the video game fans, due to his iconic look, personality and for being the protagonist of most Street Fighter related stuff.
