Edmond Honda
CHARACTER OVERVIEW:
Edmond Honda has been trained since birth to take his place as the greatest sumo wrestler to ever step into the ring. Upon receiving the title of "Yokozuna" or grand champion, Honda was shocked to learn that the rest of the world did not consider sumo wrestling a true sport. Outraged, he has vowed to prove that sumo wrestlers are the greatest fighters in the world. A strict disciplinarian, Honda guides his pupils with a stern hand. He understands that goals are reached only through hard work and dedication. Quick and extremely powerful, Honda's greatest advantage is his size. He loves to pound his opponents and then knock them out with a quick flurry of his Hundred Hand Slap. As a strict disciple of the art of Sumo wrestling, this Hawaiian fighter is a giant mass of power and strength! Despite his threatening appearance, he has a kind heart and the sense to do what is right. During the Shadaloo incident, he acted as bodyguard to Chun Li and helped to stop the tyrannical General Bison. His most fearful weapons are his hands; if you ever get hit by his Hundred Hand Slap, you'll definetly agree... once you wake up! After the Shadaloo incident, Honda became a member of Escher's Street Fighter operation and was the resident computer expert of the team.

THOUGHTS ON THE CHARACTER:
Honda is quite a cool character. Peter Tuiasosopo was well cast as the sumo wrestler. Because of the fact that Tuiasosopo is Samoan, the character's nationality was changed to Hawaiian. Nonetheless, he is still a very cool and friendly character. Paul Dobson is also quite good as Honda. His voice does change between seasons (mainly due to the fact that Honda only appeared in two episodes per season). In the first season, Honda sounded like T. Hawk with a Hawaiian accent and in the second season, he sounded like Tankor with a Hawaiian accent. Both voices are cool, but I prefer the second season voice. I also like the fact that Honda is quite handy with computers. This is cool, because it adds a new dimension to the character. Honda is quite popular with fans and his American incarnation is quite good, in my humble opinion.
